Programs

Since its launch in May 2022, Tech For Refugees has focused primarily on the emergency in Ukraine. From October 2022 the initiative began expanding its scope to refugee crises in other parts of the world.

International Rescue Committee program

Multi-year donation from Tech For Refugees to the International Rescue Committee to expand its Signpost community-driven information platform around the world.

Flexport Pakistan program

Tech For Refugees is providing funding to Flexport.org to coordinate the delivery of supplies to refugees and internally displaced people in Pakistan.

Flexport Horn of Africa program

Tech For Refugees has committed funds to supporting Flexport.org’s programs in the Horn of Africa, delivering resources, especially food, to people displaced by famine. The intention of these interventions is both to aid refugees directly and to help affected people avoid becoming refugees.

Airbnb Ukraine program

Airbnb.org has offered free, short-term housing to up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine, drawing upon Airbnb’s network of Hosts, technology, and trust and safety infrastructure.

Flexport Ukraine program

During the six months to end of July 2022, Flexport.org has coordinated 348 shipments to 6 countries that have taken in Ukrainian refugees, containing millions of pounds of aid including ambulances, hospital beds, hygiene kits, and emergency medical equipment and supplies, including portable incubators for new-born babies. These deliveries have provided relief for 5.3 million people. Flexport.org’s work in Ukraine is in partnership with 28 aid organizations including Save the Children, UNICEF, and Project C.U.R.E.

Welcome.US Ukraine program

Tech For Refugees is supporting Welcome.US to create Welcome Connect with its partners. Welcome Connect is a user-friendly platform to provide a safe, streamlined process for Americans looking to connect with beneficiaries and serve displaced Ukrainians in need of a sponsor but without a connection to one.

Airbnb, Flexport, Spotify Ukraine program

Tech For Refugees works with its partners Airbnb.org, Flexport.org and Spotify to facilitate shelter and hosting, logistics and deliveries, and entertainment to refugees from Ukraine.

Uber, NeedsMap Turkey Program

Tech For Refugees provided a grant for NeedsMap users in Turkey to buy Uber ride credits. Uber will in turn cover all fees and support costs for all rides taken, with any payments going directly to local drivers.

Uber Credit program for IRC

With a grant from Tech For Refugees, Uber is donating Uber Credits for the IRC, to help refugees with transportation needs as they seek education, meaningful work and employment opportunities.
